About the role:

About Detection Enforcement Officer

Detection Enforcement Officers conduct aviation and maritime surveillance operations to detect, identify, track and coordinate the interdiction of threats approaching or operating within the borders of the United States. Air and Marine agents will be responsible for commanding multiple vessels, operate sophisticated detection systems, and fly airplanes, helicopters and unmanned aerial surveillance platforms to stop terrorist attacks and the unlawful movement of people, illegal drugs and contraband into the United States by land, air, and sea.

  1. Detection Enforcement Officer:
  • Operating leading-edge radar surveillance technology to interpret and analyse data in tracking suspect aircraft and/or vessels
  • Generating leads, gather evidence, and develop intelligence on potential criminal activity
  • Working with criminal investigators on active investigations
  • Performing queries utilising data from various database systems to determine actions to take against a suspect person, aircraft or vessel.

Requirements:

Requirements of Detection Enforcement Officer

  1. Detection Enforcement Officer:
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Have a valid driver’s licence
  • Have resided in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years
  • Be Veteran’s Recruitment Eligible
  • Pass the application process.

  1. Other Qualifications:
  • Possess knowledge of air traffic control procedures, airspace, and terminology.
  • Possess skills in the areas of radar usage, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Have operational knowledge of airborne; maritime; and/or ground-based Air Traffic Control, Air Defence Sector, and/or Airborne Early Warning-type radar facilities/platforms
  • Possess knowledge of a wide variety of general aviation, transport and military-type aircraft to include performance characteristics used by civil, military, and criminal organisations.
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Note:

  • Officers may be eligible for premium pay for working on Sundays, holidays, and night shifts (anytime between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.).
  • Outstanding performers may receive cash awards as recognition for their superior efforts (if funding permits).
  • Officers readily accessible and willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime (excess of a 40-hour work week), and will be compensated accordingly.
  • Starting salary for Detection Enforcement Officers is GS-11 (step 1) with a non-competitive promotion to GS-12 after one year and the successful completion of training.
  • Officers are also entitled for health insurance, life insurance and other generous retirement benefits that are provided.
